Awareness prog on RGSSBY
ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The North East Development Welfare Society (NEDWS) has organized an awareness programme on Rajiv Gandhi Shilpi Swasthya Bima Yojana (RGSSBY) at Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district on Jan 19. Around 100 local people were benefited from the programme in which the BDO and ADI took part as resource persons.
The RGSSBY, a health insurance scheme for handicraft artisans, aims at financially enabling the artisans community to access to the best of health care facilities in the country. The scheme will cover the artisans’ family of four comprising self and provides benefit like medical claim amounting to Rs 15,000, personal accidental benefit up to Rs 1 lakh and SBI bank loan of Rs 25,000 without security.

She died at the age of about ninety years at her residence at Midpu.

DAPORIJO, Jan 22: A Yoga cum Transcendental Meditation Camp was organized at Shiv Mandir, Daporijo on January 19 on the occasion of Kumbh Mela by the Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti (VKAJ), Daporijo.
Participants were taught yoga, transcendental meditation and pranayam techniques during the camp,
Jumin Ligu demonstrated yogic flying which is an extended programme of transcendental meditation propounded by Maharishi Mahesh yogi. He explained that in yogic flying (first stage) the body of the person who is meditating levitates in the air in the form of hopping without any conscious physical effort.
Participants of the camp expressed their enthusiasm for more such camps to be organised in Daporijo and nearby areas.

DAPORIJO, Jan 22: The 2nd conference cum election of All Taliha Payeng area Students’Union was conducted at Taliha.
Delegates and other intellectual members from all Taliha Payeng area participated in the three days conference.
Debate and discussion on upliftment of the society was organized during the conference, in which every delegate participated actively.
Speaking on the occasion, Same Timba encouraged the students to come forward and render selfless service for the welfare of the society and nation as a whole. He also exhorted the students to promote social harmony and brotherhoodness rather than creating conflict among the students under the banner of different students’ union. He suggested the union to adopt selection system instead of election since the latter creates more conflict and controversy among the students in electing office bearers.
He also gave emphasis on preservation and promotion of ones own culture and tradition as ‘loss of culture is loss of identity’.

AR conducts free medical camp at Pullung
ITANAGAR, Jan 22: 1 Assam Rifles and 402 Field Hospital under aegis of Headquarter 25 Sector Assam Rifles organized a free Medical Camp at Pullung.
A total of 810 patients including 242 males, 272 females and 296 children were treated throughout the day. The patients were also provided with required medicines free of cost. Various rapid laboratory tests as well as ECG were conducted, according to an Army release.
Four doctors and medical staff of the Army and Assam Rifles as well as DMO, Civil doctors and staff of District Hospital, Khonsa took part in the camp.

A small stall of health and hygiene awareness was opened to educate the villagers and musical concert was also organised by the Battalion band to instill a feeling of comfort.
Such camps, if organized regularly will go a long way in bringing the hill people as well as “Friends of the Hill people” closer to achieve sustained peace and prosperity in Arunachal Pradesh, the release added.

Aalo incident condemned
Ramle Banggo Welfare Society (RBWS) vehemently condemned the January 10 Aalo incident in which a young student leader Goto Yudik lost his life.
The Society demanded that justice must be given to the parents and family of Lt. Goto and all those who were involved in the gruesome murder must be given exemplary and rigorous punishment so that no such incidents recur in future.
Further, the society appealed the Galo Welfare Society (GWS), the apex body of the Galo community, Galo Students Union (GSU) and all Galos of the state not to extent any types of support to any Galo organization which is divisive and disintegrative in nature and tries to malign the name of the tribe.

Parliamentary Secretary Yumsen Matey and Tirap DC Dr Sachin Shinde were present during the inauguration.
While speaking on the occasion Lowang urged the students to maintain the hostel building properly as their own property. He passionately appealed to the students to work hard and compete against their counterparts in the state. "He was probably left in the dry culvert last midnight and seems to have belonged to a poor family,” eyewitnesses said.

During the visit to the tree by this reporter last Friday, Kallek HGB Tamang Tamuk informed that the giant tree was planted by one Sibeng Tamuk during early part of 20th century.
“The ‘Atang Ane’ was planted by late Sibeng Tamuk to obtain rubber from it during the time of practicing jhum cultivation in the area and it is believe that the sapling of the tree might have brought from nearby Burma (now Myanmar) by him”, the HGB said.

The brain child of the Governor, the aim of initiative in locating the largest tree was to add another feather to the tourism potential of the state.
Foundation Day of IDEA SHGs celebrated at Taliha
ITANAGAR, Jan 22: With a view to strengthen SHGs morally, united and economically, Itanagar Diocesan Empowerment Association (IDEA) Self Help Groups of Taliha celebrated 2nd SHG Foundation Day yesterday.
On the occasion Sr. Josin SD gave welcome address and Tabu Duchok read out the aims and objectives and history of IDEA.
Addressing the SHGs, Taliha CO/BDO Kipa Raja gave brief description on SHG, its formation and selection of group member etc. He also said “as we form SHG we should not only target to conceive loan from the bank”. But bank looks upon the development made by the group first then only the bank decides to finance loan for the groups, he said. He said, IDEA SHGs of Taliha namely, Women SHG Taliha and Ajin Aram SHG Taliha have got support from the department. However, the department can not give all the SHGs support at a time, he said. He, however, promised to give support one by one.
He has announced and promised to give Taliha SHGs five tailoring machines and requested them to learn as IDEA team has been providing various skill development training since 2008.
On the occasion, Tagam Yako, Agriculture Development officer (ADO) expressed his readiness to extend support to the groups as and when he is approached.
Fr. Sijo Jose Kuliranyil SAC of Siyum appreciated the hard work done by the IDEA team and assured necessary to support SHGs of the region at any time.
On the occasion IDEA Project Coordinator Sanjit also gave short inputs and information regarding the project and the activity to be taken up during the current year.

‘Fine system’ and my experience

In continuation to Taba Ajum's and T. Tahin's views and experiences, I too being a concerned citizen of Arunachal Pradesh would like to share my experience with my fellow readers on stretching trends of taking "FINE" on petty collision of vehicles in our state and our lustres in the neighbouring states.
One Sunday we went to Harmuty for marketing in a private car of one of us who used to be a local of Itanagar. There was huge rush. After marketing, for return journey our parked vehicle required about turn. But due to limited parking lot and congested area, our local friend who was driving the vehicle accidently banged the other nearby parked car of Assam registration. We all scared and apologized the owner. The gentleman excused us but rather lamented the concerned authority for lack of sufficient parking area. We all breadth deeply. After few moment, the gentleman came close to us and said "Bhai Sahab! Sochke dekhiye, aap ka Itanagar me hone se aap ka kya haal hona tha". We trio looked at each others and got inside the car.
The sentence of the gentleman is really great concerned for our society. Arunachal Pradesh is better known as peace loving state among the seven sisters. But the trend of taking "FINE" is blacktopping our images in all aspects. This is peak time to think before it is too late.
