Digital Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre

48 per cent of children under the age of 5 are malnourished in India, about 7 million of whom suffer from severe acute malnutrition. The Prime Minister called this a "national shame'', which needs to be tackled on an urgent basis.  To fight this silent epidemic, and tackle the persistent issue of malnutrition, Save the Children has now launched a Digital Nutrition Rehabilitation.

Centre which provides all of us a chance to contribute to tackling malnutrition for some of the poorest and most marginalized infants, in some of the hardest to reach corners of India, thus saving a precious life.

Every year, nearly 1.7 million children die because of illnesses that are easily preventable and under nutrition is the underlying cause for about a third of these deaths. This innovative initiative is part of a larger national effort to ensure quality health care and nutrition for some of India's poorest and most marginalised children.

It's never been easier to support an initiative to help save children lives, and provide quality care and nutrition for young children. All one has to do is visit the digital centre at http://nutrition.savethechildren.in.

The digital centre simulates the experience of being inside an ideal and child-friendly Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), now being set up in some states by their governments to treat babies suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) -- which is a life-threatening condition.

‘Fine system’ and my experience

Dear Editor,

In continuation to Taba Ajum's and T. Tahin's views and experiences, I too being a concerned citizen of Arunachal Pradesh would like to share my experience with my fellow readers on stretching trends of taking  "FINE" on petty collision of vehicles in our state and our lustres in the neighbouring states.

One Sunday we went to Harmuty for marketing in a private car of one of us who used to be a local of Itanagar. There was huge rush. After marketing, for return journey our parked vehicle required about turn. But due to limited parking lot and congested area, our local friend who was driving the vehicle accidently banged the other nearby parked car of Assam registration. We all scared and apologized the owner. The gentleman excused us but rather lamented the concerned authority for lack of sufficient parking area. We all breadth deeply. After few moment, the gentleman came close to us and said "Bhai Sahab! Sochke dekhiye, aap ka Itanagar me hone se aap ka kya haal hona tha". We trio looked at each others and got inside the car.

The sentence of the gentleman is really great concerned for our society. Arunachal Pradesh is better known as peace loving state among the seven sisters. But the trend of taking "FINE" is blacktopping our images in all aspects. This is peak time to think before  it is too late.

Yours’

Ganesh Tamang
